Just changed the gear wires on my ally synapse.

Been putting it off as they are inside the frame tubes.

It was easy peasy in fact as they are threaded through a thin plastic pipe from where they enter the frame near the headset to where they come out the hole by the bottom bracket.

Make sure you tape both ends of the tube to the outside of the frame to ensure it doesnt get pulled inside the frame when you pull the old cable out and thread the new one in.

Rest of the job is exactly the same as external ones.

Good luck to anyone else doing it.Crucial part is dont lose the end of the pipe into the frame.

:okay:

They're not all like that.
4 of mine don't have anything in the tubing.

One method then is thread a piece of the pipe onto the old cable before pulling the cable out ,slide the new cable down the pipe then pull the pipe back out again.

It was a bit of trial and error at first, but I got quite good at it after the third time.
I did buy a internal cabling installation kit from Park tools which is basically a magnet and a piece of metal on a string. But to be fair it did work quite well.

Just to add:
The simplest method I found was the plastic sheathing. It is a rigid up to a point, so it tends to go where you want it to when you poke it in the frame.

I cut a length of brake outer just a little bit bigger than the down tube and pushed that through the frame, then fed the cables down and removed the outer......was simple job
