I’m helping supervise a Gold DofE team in mid-Wales this week.
Monday evening we (adults!) were at the Neuadd Arms in Llanwrtyd Wells, when some cyclists arrived, in drinks and drabs.
Had a chat: it turns out they are part of the mostly off road Lands End to Cape Wrath 2000km event - see https://www.theracingcollective.com/gbduro.html

They were consuming calories like it was going out of fashion, & I understand some set off around 10pm to continue😳

Fascinating to follow on Instagram or ‘watch’ on the web page: yesterday, the leader managed to go 50km on the wrong direction, had to go 50km more to get back and was still 200km ahead of 2nd place!
One at the pub had slept a couple of hours on a church doorway earlier 🤣

If you think that's mad .... for the lockdown edition, every rider had to carry all their kit - INCLUDING FOOD - for the whole duration! (thus avoiding human contact and thus spreading the plague round the British Isles)

Yup, the more I read about it, the more it made our gold DofE weekend feel so tame (but was mega for our young team, of course!).
Still following them: the leader is managing 275km every day, spending 86% of the time pedalling 😳
