It was great fun, but I'd have liked it to be slightly longer.
LCCRL (the organisers) investigated all the possibilities and came to the conclusion that Gas Hill was the only option, even though the council was arranging the road closures. I think the main problem is opposition from car drivers - I saw a lot of disruption and cross drivers yesterday afternoon during the 5k run....never mind the fact the Lord Mayor's Procession followed it! There are only really two places for crits: around the castle, and around City Hall (tight turn at Pedal Revolution). The problem with both of them is that access to the Castle Mall car park or the Fire and Police stations are compromised for an hour or two.
To be honest I didn't really notice the crowd when racing, although the encroachment down the right hand side could have caused problems. I yelled MOVE at one photographer who had his legs sticking out on my 3rd run....nearly compromised my path to the final
