Just to Echo previous threads Garmin ;)

After about a year my edge 305 started powering of occasionally. Over the next 10 months it got gradually worse and then suddenly worse in the last month. I contacted them last Thursday and they said it was no problem and they'd cover that under warranty. I sent it off Friday Lunchtime and got backed a newly overhauled unit this lunchtime. Its on the charger as I type :sun:

Good old Garmin, they are very good indeed. 10/10 for customer support. A lot of companies could learn from them.

i had 2 vista c's go that way, they were replaced , but something for use on a bike handlebars shouldn't have what appears to be a quite common fault such as this.

My first eTrex Legend.

Rubber bumber band came loose and it suffered power-outs a couple of times.
Garmin replaced the unit although I had it thirteen months ( Goodwill ).

The eTrex is basically a 'hand held'. Garmin designed a replaceable back ( or the screw-on attachment ) and a bar-mount for it so it could be used on a bicycle.

When held in hand, the rubber expands. When on bike, it shakes itself to sleep.

Had no problems with my Edge 605 up to now ( reaches under table for some wood ).

This happens to my 205 too sometimes, irritatingly.

I bought it second hand and have no paperwork for it. Anyone think I might have any luck with Garmin replacing it?
Probably not. However, if you went into a shop and bought a new one which worked fine, and then took it back under warranty as it kept stopping (alas, you may have inadvertently switched it with your current one) then presumably you could get a refund as you were not happy with the goods.

They don't ask for paperwork. I got mine from e-bay and they replaced it with a recon one. Which answers the question what happens to the old ones.

Well going by this, it sounds to me that they have some reconditioned ones, and your old one has just been reconditioned and sent back to you(might be some easy to fix fault) or reconditioned and added to the stock, so it just gets sent to someone else who has also had the same problem?

Id love a GPS for the bike, but i cant afford one and the parents have said no to anything for my bike for my 18th birthday.
I dont do anything but cycle and see my gf:wacko:
Oh, i do go to college aswell:ohmy::blush:B);)
