Hi all,

Does anybody have any experience of using one of these, reviews are very conflicting, ranging from excellent, to don't bother buying, so would like some views of actual owners/ users please.

Regards
Tony.

I have recently acquired one and have only used it a couple of times. It seems to have it quirks, as all Garmins do and it has a bit of a steep learning curve.
I wasn't too happy with it on the first run, but it gave me a good insight into how it works. The second time I used it I was a bit more experienced with it's working and was far more happier with it.
It really is a case of the more you use it the more you learn how to use it. I found this out with the Edge 200 & 500.

There is only one review of Garmins I would really trust and that is DC Rainmaker's review.

Ive got the Garmin touring and have used it all over Europe. If you plot your route on a Pc and download it into your Touring it will take you where you plotted.

If you want to use it to plot a route out on the road. It will get you where you want to go but not necessarily by a direct route.

I like it but you need to play with it to get used to it.

I use mine as a doorstop. It's brilliant for that, it stops my lounge door from closing unexpectedly. It could also find a use as a random beep generator, if anyone wanted to make a techno record, but it would probably turn itself off for no good reason, half way through. It's no use whatsoever on the bike, though:thumbsdown:
