I just bought one of these after months of thinking about it. There are plenty of bad reviews about these online but there seems to be little else out there that does the same for the same money, so I took a gamble on it at £165.

Anyway, just did a 55 mile ride with it and very pleased indeed.

I have one question though - on the elevation page I got info on elevation change etc but the graph remained blank - this seems odd to me - can anyone explain?

I've got a Touring+ and am very happy with it. The elevation page, I think it depends on whether a route has been input or not. I've never managed to get it to show gradient, but when I complained about it to my wife she got it showing gradient straight away, although only what we'd done. I know you can get it to show what is coming up, but I think you may need to have given it the gradient data in the route upload.

Long and short of it, it can work, I don't know how to make it work, if you find out, I'd be interested to hear the solution.

I think the problem originates from the route that I planned using Garmin Connect - this for some reason has no elevation data, or rather the elevation data hasn't been transferred to my Edge - anyone know why not?

I've looked into this matter more, and this is what I've discovered (online).
Getting the device to show the elevation profile of what you've done is easy enough.
If you want to see the elevation profile as you are riding (to see what hills are coming etc) you need to create the route using a programme that provided this info to your Garmin. For some reason, the Garmin Connect website doesn't transfer this info to the device so if you plan your route using GC it wont work! Garmin have been aware of this problem for nearly a year but have yet to correct it. There are other programmes such as mapmyride that will send the elevation data to your device.
