Garmin Edge Touring Plus Question

I am just thinking of buying one of these but am not clear on their functionality. Are you able to simply enter a postcode like a car GPS and it routes you there? Or do you have to use a PC to plot the route then load onto the Garmin?

Must admit, I find the post code search pretty clumsy. It's annoying you have to enter a street name and house number after you've given the postcode. I've found the GET really good but mainly using it to follow downloaded routes.Perhaps I'm just a clumsy user.

Don't get me wrong...it's the best bit of cycling gear I've bought in years!

Just kiddin - I'll have a good go with that. I particularly like the feature that lets you specify a time and it designs a route for you. Just ordered a K-Edge Mount too. I have spent a bloody fortune this week!

Just got my GET plus and so far so good a couple of rides and all went well.

Just one problem at the moment.

I am using Garmin Cycle map EU 2014.30 and can't change Trip Page settings i.e. Orientation, Auto Zoom and Map Detail.

Do I need a better map ( if so which one can anybody recommend for UK ) , does my GET have a fault or am I just missing something?

Like many other think Garmin should provide better manual all very much trial and error.

Any help would be most welcome
