Garmin Edge Touring - doesn't show ride map

I have a Garmin Touring, and although it has many faults, I have mostly got on with it. However, it has decided not to show me the map of my ride or the profile. Normally, once you complete a ride and save it, you can go to the little folder icon, then click Rides, then click on the ride and choose Map and it shows you the map of your ride.

Well, since about a week ago I have clicked Map and instead of a jumble of roads around my house it shows the map of North West Africa - Morocco, Algeria, Mali etc... and when I click Elevation I get a black screen rather than the green profile I expect.

I have done a factory reset but all that did was delete all my rides (no great loss) but the problem persists.

Anyone have any ideas, bright or otherwise ?

How old is the unit? Sounds like it needs factory attention to me. If it's anything like when my camera packed up, Fuji just had a standard service kit that was a kind of cure for all ills. I'm guessing Garmin must do something similar...........and hopefully for you, under guarantee!

I have the receipt, and it is (just) less than a year old - looks like a trip to Halfords tomorrow !

mine done this last week, just reinstal the map from the Garmin website
