Garmin Edge 800 - White line across screen

Hi folks

Loads of Qs from me today. My Edge has developed a white line across the top of the screen. The line won't go away. The Edge is functioning perfectly normally apart from that. Thoughts anyone?

Also, my HRM seems to have conked out. Do I just need a new battery? I am struggling to unscrew the back of it anyway!

No idea regarding the white line, but how old is the unit (perhaps a warranty claim?)?

The screws are a pain to get off the HRM, even with a decent jewelers screwdriver. A new battery would be the first thing to try; has it been working fine, any correlation to the appearance of the white line?

I don't think there's a correlation to the white line. I have bought a new battery for it (dirt cheap) but no luck with getting back off unit just yet.

On the warranty, would I need a receipt? It was a present

No just go to garmin support website and put in a request. Plug the device and check if you have warranty

Fair play to Garmin who can't do much about the line on the screen (it is out of warranty) - they say it shouldn't get worse, and they are sending me a free replacement HR strap and sensor as my current one has stopped working

I think they are called dead pixels. One of my friends had this happen to his I-phone, no idea why they appear in lines, they did that on his too.

Yeah that's what he said (I think). 12 month warranty on such an expensive piece of kit is a bit poor I think

I thought electrical goods had a two year warranty under EU rules.
