Garmin edge 500 Pair problem!

Please help me in my darkest hour.

I have a 405 running watch & I just bought an edge 500. I assumed the ant stick would work with the edge 500. I can't get them to pair. Do I need a modern ant stick? Could I need to re install all software from scratch?

I think you need to use a USB cable for the 500, I didn't think you coul pair it with am Ant+ stick.

yeah its the 10 models that are wireless.
