I have just bought a Garmin Edge 500 for £89.99; is this a good computer and a good deal? While I am still only a total beginner, I am interested in starting to push myself a little and unfortunately my phone battery doesn't last even 20 miles and I'd rather have it to phone somebody in case something happens!

There are still some "unclaimed" on Amazon's Black Friday deals if anybody is interested.

They have all gone now.
And yes, for what you got it's a real bargain.
After a ride , up load your ride to Garmin Connect to see and digest all the information.

To get the best out of it, visit the Garmin forums to see how to use the many features.

At a later date if you wish, you can pair it with a cadence meter and/or a heart rate monitor.

Well, I clicked on a few seconds after the price came up & they had all sold. Clicked to 'add to wait' list & was number 174!!

You dropped £90 on something without knowing what it does or if it is any good?

Ha sounds a bit crazy doesn't it.

I've actually been looking a lot at the 200 previously (been using Strava and my phone but battery is poor with GPS on and no mount so I don't know anything until I get home), so I know what they do and I read the Amazon reviews and BikeRadar within the 15 minutes you actually get to confirm the deal for the 500! However, I thought it would be nice to let others know if they were interested and get your feedback as I value your opinions. Just happens I am off work today and spotted the deal!

And if you all told me it was rubbish I'd just cancel it and somebody else on the wait list would get it.
