This morning I was just about to set off to work. I hadnt been on my bike since Tuesday.

I pressed the ON button and nothing happened. I then kept it held down and still nothing happened. So I nipped into the house quickly as I presumed it needed some sort of wake-up. So I plugged it into my laptop and when the on-screen charge eventually turned on, it said that the battery was 0% full.
It was fully charged on Tuesday so I cannot understand how it could loose its charge without being turned on (I didnt touch it since Tue).

So this meant that I had to go to work without any way of seeing how fast I was going or what my timing was (although I did get to work on time).

Has anyone else had this dead-Garmin problem?

NO.
Didn't it feel good to cycle without a computer? I have stopped taking it on my commutes now.

The 305 had a bug where if you charged it, it would still think its on when you've finished (even though the screen was blank) and discharged (dead when you came to use it); that happened to me a few times until I read about the work around always switch on and off manually post charging and never leave the cable in.

Not that specific problem (firmware upgrade didn't work so needed reversed) but I'm sure I read about this on the garmin forum - google it and I'm sure you'll get some suggestions, you may need to reformat the device and reinstall the software. Seems straightforward, just read the instructions through first. Good luck!

Thanks, I will try that.
