I remember when this sort of thing was used by cyclists for navigation. Is there any market for them now?

They can still be useful so maybe a very broke cyclist might offer a fiver for one? I have a few in a kitchen drawer doing nothing. I will probably donate them to a local charity bike shop the next time that I go there.

I use an Etrex 20 as an easily transferrable bike computer between bikes. AA batteries last about 25 hours, easy to carry a spare set. I had intended to use it for navigation, haven't done so yet though might do in the future. Not really into hi tech, maybe not even low tech. It's simple, and it works. Have a look on the Bay of e to see what they might be worth. There still seems to be a demand for simple, apparently durable stuff and some spares are still available too.

As guide I sold an Etrex 20x on Ebay for £70 last month.
I paid much less than that three years ago when I brought it used.
I did try it for on-bike navigation but soon went back to a unit that was designed for cycling, Much better for following tracks/routes when walking.

Well that makes sense from my experience. The bike computer function works for me but I can imagine the shape and size of it fits the hand well and the screen size makes sense from normal reading distance if you're navigating on foot.

Still using my eTrex 30x. The lack of TBT (or an effective simple workaround) remains annoying, but I can live with that. Reliable, tough, excellent for ride logging and you don't need solar panels when you've got rechargeable AAs and the possibility to carry spares.

I still have a yellow etrex like that. I used to use it for SAR work, far more accurate than mobile phone GPS when out in the wilds. I even have a handlebar mount and lead to download the tracks to a pooter, although I don't know how id go about doing that.
