garmin 705 maps

Does any know the cheapest way to down load uk/eruo maps on to a garmin 705 .

A question Finn if you can help me please?
If you download say the UK maps from openstreet maps and save it an SD card could you then download the map for a 2nd country e.g. Mallorca (I just want that part of Spain) and save that on the same card or do you need to load it to another card?

Thank you for that much appreciated.
So when I install the card and turn the garmin on, obviously I will see my current location in far better detail than the base map and have the ability to zoom in etc.
When I go to Mallorca and turn the garmin on will it boot up and show that location obviously with the far greater detail of the downloaded map than the base map?

You may need to make sure the UK file is renamed. Not sure if the garmin can read a non standard named map. Best bet is just get a spare card and you can test the map before you travel. Cards are cheap

does this mean you dont have to bother buying the maps bundle & just buy the cheaper model - but then download and have the same. Im thinking of buying the garmin 800?

The .img files are all named gmapsupp as standard IIRC so changing the name is the only way to load multiples.

Mine are simply gmapsuppuk.img gmapsuppwest.img and so on
