oh the dilema

310 XT is cheaper, can be worn as a watch and is water proof
The edge 800 has mapping, bigger screen and is designed for bike only

Id get more use from the 310XT i think but would loose mapping which i really want, any ideas?

Took me a while to get my head round my 800 (even though I've had an Edge 705 for a couple of years now) but wouldn't be without it now. I have ABSOLUTELY no sense of direction and so the mapping and turn by turn guidance is priceless. there's only so many times you can do the same memorised route!

Honestly, I get the mickey taken something awful. Nobody can believe how useless I am!

Having turn by turn (just like Tomtom) has revolutionised my riding. I can now follow the most intricate routes on some lovely cycling roads. Before I just had to stick to main roads and limit the number of turns to just enough to get me back where I started!

Another advantage is friends (or anyone else for that matter) can go on Bikeroutetoaster and create a route. They can then email it to me and I can program it into my 800. I can then use routes that they've found without them being there
