Hi - I can get the garmin 1000 for 300 pound's. I like the look of it for the bigger screen and random route / ride generator. I currently have the 800.

What do people think of it?

Thanks folks

Love it much more than I loved my 800

Fast and careful!
does the 1000 connect to giants ride sense,( i know it should but to ease my mind)like the op i have been offered a unit, and am looking to up grade from a 800,
some one did say the other day that the 800s cadence metre does not work with the 1000 ,true or not

Ridesense will work fine as will the old dual speed/cadence GSC10( the one with the silly wee arm)

The new style individual sensors are great though. The benefit of the sensor "pool" is that a paired sensor is paired to the unit, and not unique to a bike profile so you can take them off one bike in seconds and onto another in seconds.

All I do is change the profile Road > MTB or whatever

thanks for the clarity on that one , the unit I have been offered has every except the new sensors, but as two of my bikes have ride sense happy days

Thanks for the replies guys. I've heard the battery life isn't that great? How long can it go for when navigating?

Battery life seems fine if not on par with the 800's for the amount of riding I've done (mystery illness for the past month or so) yet to really use it navigating so can't comment
