Woke at 1am to intense smell of smoke. Carp, been here before. Can't see across car park, yet it's not foggy. Whatever it is, it's close, but it's not us. Phew. However, it is one of the bedsit flats attached to this complex, and the fire is intense enough to blow the windows out into King Street.
Les pompiers arrived almost immediately, and still had the appliance pumps running two hours later. As this flat was on the top floor, everything in that building is likely water-damaged, so there's going to be several homeless residents this morning.
No idea on casualties, but if none, then very lucky indeed, I'm thinking.
