While on a group ride, we were talking about a guy's new bike. We then moved on to a regular's bike. He had bought a full suspension bike and changed the wheels to road wheels as he was going out on a long ride with a load of younger people and was wanting to be able to keep up. After tying them and realising that this bike was suited to going fast as well as being very comfy to ride.
When I first saw this I was thinking, 'that is just plain weird', but he certianly does fly along since he got mixed his bikes up. I don't have a full suspension bike but have a road and mtbike. He only needs one, as he doesn't do much offroad. Figured this was a good money saver.
Also came across some bamoo bikes lately. Incredibly fast and comfy to ride, just not sure whether they'd handle the real off-road as the maker claimed, surely they would warp/snap?
