Just reading a few threads and ColinJ's estimated he burns "about a pound of fat per 100 miles. 1 pound of fat = 3,500 cals, so 100 miles ~= 3,500 cals; 1 mile ~= 35 cals net loss".

As sad as I am, it got me thinking of ways to represent that.

It's about 1mpc or one mile per Cadbury celebration chocolate.
5mpg or five miles per Guinness

Any more, or is it just me being a saddo?

No, I think you have summed it up accurately, and in a meaningful way !

This does make it easy to understand - but I don't understand then how I've only cycled about 600 miles in a year, but that 600 miles has lost me over 2 stones in weight since last summer......

I haven't changed anything else about my eating - I still have a McDonalds once a week, crisps/chocolate etc, yet I've lost 2 stone which means I should have cycled 2800 miles...?

Just don't try it on either chocolate or guinness. Choc you'll get a sugar rush and be grovelling in the gutter after 40 miles.

Guinness you'll deffo. be in the gutter after 40 miles.

You'll be in the the gutter either way, but with Guiness for fuel you won't care

My wife made a choc & Guinness cake the other week. Was a major downfall in my health for 5 days.

It mans that you were so unfit that your body had dropped the pounds in shock and horror  as part of the road to getting a bit fit

If you've a history of exercise and are reasonably fit like ColinJ, your body is much more reluctant to drop weight unnecessarily (never know when it might be needed) so you have to work the calories off

A clever person once talked me through the laws of physics and then used them to explain where the odd sock went from the washing machine. If I'd listened better and been brighter, I reckon it'd explain your problem and mine. I reckon your extra fat has landed on me.

12 miles per Cornish Pasty.
