Hi -- I have the above chain set on a cube agree ( triple ) which is about 4-5 years old.I keep getting bad " slip " when I use the middle ring. Adjustment seems ok and I have replaced the chain with a new chain so my only conclusion is that I need a new middle ring. I don't get slip from the outer ring or inner ring although I am prepared to buy a new chain set if need be.

Can someone help me with my options and what information do I need to know before I make my purchase ?

Questions that spring to mind are -- if I buy the latest FSA SL-K chain set , will it bolt straight on ? Another is -- if I just get a new middle ring, will it have to be FSA SL-K or for example would a shimano middle ring do the same job ? Another is -- could I buy a different triple chain set all together as the FSA replacement seems very expensive ?

Current triple set up is 52/39 , 39/30 ( S10 ) , 30 T

Other information that appears on the rings are 130mm BCD on both outer and middle rings and 74mm BCD on the smallest ring. I have no idea what these mean but hope it helps someone make an informed decision.

Many thanks in anticipation for your help.

Cheers.

Have a look at SJS cycles website.

Almost any of the 5 arm 130BCD middle rings should be a match. The stronglight ones seem to be well regarded for the money.

BCD is the Bolt Circle Diameter - the diameter of the circle the fixing bolts form. 130mm for the outer and middle and 74mm for the inner are standard Shimano compatible road triple measurements. Whatever rings you get, these measurements must match, otherwise the rings won't fit.
