Quick question... I currently have a FSA Omega crankset with matching bearings... however the bearings need... ahem... replacing.... Anyway how interchangable are bottom brackets with fsa cranks? Bear in mind I'm on a very limited budget!

Just micrometered the axle... 19.00mm at the point of bearing contact.

I have seen on eBay a couple bottom brackets that claim to be compatible with shimano FSA and Raceface... would these do the trick?

If I were you I would not chance it. See Wiggle's answer to the first question here and there aren't many they don't sell. Fsa's specificity is a minefield.

Even within FSA's range, only the Omega has a 19mm shaft. IIRC the bearings are 20mm bore then you have the plastic cover that brings it down to 19mm.
Other FSA BBs are pretty much specific to a particular crankset, so the one you're looking at on ebay could fit any one of FSAs range, but you don't know which.
if you're keen on the idea, you can still contact the seller and ask which FSA cranksets its compatible with.

And as an afterthought, BB4000 is the BB part number for Omega cranksets. It doesnt fit any other FSA cranksets, and of course no other BB will suit the Omega.

+1 to that, I had to go with a BB4000, I even asked FSA direct and it's the only one. So I'll keep it going until the chainrings die then get a better chainset, probably SRAM Apex with GXB bb cups, or maybe campy veloce

(anyone else planning on taking advantage of the clear roads to go for a little ride?)
