Howdy,

Foolish me thought this would be one of the easier steps in doing up this bike!

I can get the BB about 2/3 of the way in before it stops and will not budge any further, no matter what i do it will not budge.

I have cleaned, re-cleaned and greased to hell the BB threads but it just wont go in that extra 4mm. any help?

Hit the spanner with a hammer?

did I miss the bit where you mentioned what bike you were trying to get it into..?

Sorry, its a trek 1000 alpha.

I have matched the length of bb and the threads to what came out. so i know, or assume it fits

cheers guys, bb was the correct size, looking inside the bb looked like there was some slight damage to one of the threads and a lot of crud deeper in then I realised it was going, slight tap on a flat head and some brute force finally got them in. Thought there was an issue as I could only just move the axle when it was in, once the crank arms were on they were moving just like my tiagra bike so all in all looks good
