Hi,

I'm selling my peugeot cyclocross bike. I've mostly used it for riding with my family, towing kids, and the odd commute or ride.

It's a purpose built cross bike, in steel from I would guess the 80's, when they were making steel to a high quality. Specs are below. It runs well, though the wheels need a true to make them run perfectly. The frame is in a good condition given the age, various marks etc, a little bit of rust under the frame, but nothing serious.

It actually feels lighter than my entry level alloy flat bar road bike, and it runs well. Blue and White, looks nice.

Peugeot steel frame
Rigida 'heat treated, ultimate power' double wall rims, black. Michelin hubs
Continential Twister 28 700c tyres - not much use

Campagnolo 071 Mirage Crankset, Double ring, compact (39,53)
Shimano Sora mech
Shimano Hyperglide rear cassette
Shimano V breaks

Shamano 105 combined levers and shifters
TTT stem
Modolo drop bars
Blue bar tape in good condition

I'm hoping to get £150 for it, though if enough people tell me I'm being daft I'll happily reconsider it.

I can't edit my post for some reason, but it might be helpful to say I'm selling as I have some additional money I want to spend on a bike, and my plan is to pool the cash from this and have more to spend on a different type of bike.

Looks like a good bike at a good price imo. If I had the money I'd have it but alas I have not...If you don't have any luck listing on forums then you will definitely sell it on Ebay and probably for more than the £150 you're asking.

Anyway you may want to mention what the frame material is i.e Reynolds, also if you lower the bars and seat a little and lose the clutter on the seatpost it would look that little bit better for resale. Oh and 39, 53 isn't a compact chainset.

Chainset - Thanks for that, I thought it was.

Good on the pictures, I'll take some more pictures in the light tomorrow.

Thanks
Steve

Hmm. What height are you upandover? I currently have a 54cm frames Racelight, but I wonder if this would be ok for me as a winter commuter.

Would you be willing to post, and if so, how much would that cost?

Acording to a bike fit a 56 frame is ideal for me and you're about the same height as me mags, it looks a good bike  pity I don't have room  with the Kinesis on the way ;).

Hi,

I'm 6 foot plus a quarter of an inch or so. I have long legs for my size though, and like to cycle right at the furthest stretch as it helps my knees. I have the bike just over it's limits, with spd's on

I'd be happy to post, and I'll need to look-up the cost. I'll come back to you shortly.

Cheers
Steve

Hi,

Just using parcel force, it looks like I could send the package for £20-£22 depending on weight (12-15kg all packed. I've just been looking it up, and it seems I could probably get a box from a bike shop, pick up some bubble wrap for protection, and use shaped wooden blocks to protect the forks on both ends.

I'm not interested in making money from posting, and will look around for a cheaper courier if we go ahead, plus a few pounds for bubble wrap.

Apols for the delay - got caught up with work.
Cheers

Steve

hmm. I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer! I have just measured though and I had when riding the seatpost high enough that there were five clear inches of round seat tube showing, before it started to change shape near the saddle.

Ok. My wife would kill me! She rolled her eyes when I said I wanted a winter commuter! She just doesn't understand how it will save money in the long run (does she know how much the ultegra cassette would costs to replace on my good bike!) Space is tight as well. I'm not sure where in the shed I could put it....but...

... I could stretch to £160 if that included postage and packing. If this is too little then no offence will be taken if you want to hang on for more. ;)

Hmm. My only concern is that I am about 5ft 10 inches tall (32 inch inside leg). Would it be too big?

56cm = 22"

The general guidline used to be your inside leg minus 10" - this bike is your exact size!
