Frozen spade connectors

Today was so cold that the (male) connectors on my Schmidt hub dynamo froze and snapped off as I attempted ride my bike that had been left out all day in the bike sheds at work.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this before? It'll be an expensive mend at Schmidt in Germany I suppose.
