Hi Ya,
I have asked and searched these forums before, and have seen others to have a similar problem to what I had. That is adjusting the front deraileur to shift up from the small ring to the largest one (on a compact, ie. 2 sprockets) On a workstand, easy enough to set up. On the road with even a little load on the chain, a right nightmare.
Well today I gave up and took my Giant Defy to another LBS in town. The bike had been back a couple of times to the the place of purchase, for me to be told its within spec and works ok .... it didn`t without loads of effort. The answer - the Giant Defy 2 had a tripple cage on the front, changed over to a double, what a difference, its like a new bike, changes gear easilly. I would never had though it would of made such a difference.
So, for anyone that may be having similar probs, make sure you have the right front deraileur on the front for the number of chainrings you have.
I`m off tomorrow to go see the bike dealer that sold me the bike.....
