Front mech clamp over heli tape?

I'm building up a 1992 Orange Clockwork (steel). It's come back from the spray shop and my first instinct was to cover the whole frame in heli tape. Then I wondered - will it be OK to fit the front mech clamp over the tape? It's quite thick and a bit rubbery. I'd rather not try and cut a section off as I'm sure I'd scratch the beautiful paintwork, and it took bloody hours to measure and apply it so I really don't want to take it all off and start again!

It'll be fine. My Bianchi had heli tape under the mech clamp and there were no issues whatsoever. If anything it'll stop the mech clamp marking the paintwork should you accidentally clamp it on a bit tight.
