Hi all

I've got a women specific road bike so it has quite narrow bars. On top of that I have cross top brakes on it so there is no space for a light. I've also got a bracket on the stem bit for my garmin egde. Any suggestions about how to put a light on it?

Evans suggestions a helmet mount. Anyone got any experience of whether they are any good for being seen with and seeing the road? Also not sure of the law, does the light have to be mounted on the bike to be legal or can it be on your helmet?

Thanks for your help!

One way round is to use a dynamo light (eg B&M Cyo etc.) mounted to the mudguard bolt position on the forks -just above the wheel.

If you dont want to fit a dynamo they can be powered from a battery pack, rechargeable preferably. This can be mounted using a bottle mounting, or anything else suitable.

I have mounted lights on url=http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/<img src='http://www.cyclechat.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />/5300001170/]"Space Grips" [/url] which are not restricted to bar mounting. You can also mount on the stem so that the lights are forward and below.

Another trick (if you have a central brake bolt) is to fix the end half here as I have done on my Thorn:

Can't you move something off the bars and onto the bar extender along with the light?

I moved my computer on to it allowing me to fix the space grip onto the bars.

How narrow are your bars not to be able to fit a space grip? Cross top brakes ;)? Wider bars? A pic would be helpful.

Nice mod. This is one position for a space bar that I hadn't thought of.
