Front light to be seen not for me to see

Taken advice and have now purchased a beautiful Cateye back light. Really pleased and shows up in the daytime which was exactly what I wanted. With regards a front light they almost all seem to be designed to show you the way; quite rightly so of course. As I ride daytime only; I am after a front light that can be seen from angles as well as head on. Not interested in a single beam that lights up the country; more one that can be seen by motorists, to show a bicycle is around.

Can you help?

I've got one of these for such moments : -

and it is pretty bright with a good flashing mode for "see me" moments. Side-reliefs on the head of the light allow for visibility to the side.

Batteries last ages too.

I have two of those on my MTB. I use them on flashing mode during the day.

It works great. It even has some cars moving left as I filter down the right. A work colleague once mentioned that he thought [for a split second] that I was the police. (I was also wearing a hi-vis at the time, the lights are white, not blue)

+1. For lights to be seen with, you can't go much wrong with Smart, I've got that one, an older 3LED Polaris (great compact unit but no Sideways), and a smart Bspoke a bit brighter than both Polaris's and touch wood I've never had a smidsy pull out in the dark (now how can I achieve that in the day time  ). On the road bikes I have a Cateye EL 410, equally as bright, batteries last equally long, its a bit more compact and the integrated mount means it no problem fitting to different bars/ stem/ helmet. I think I prefer the separate mounts of the Smart's for commuting though. I've had a couple of other cateye's too but they are not as compact as the 410 or Smart's.

I found a bright LED head torch was great for getting drivers attention.

I got fed up with people driving towards me on full beam but soon discovered that shining the head torch straight at them then 'flicking' the beam down gave them a strong hint to dip which most of them obeyed.

I must admit I've done similar  , a head torch is also useful in undulating terrain when your regular lights are blocked from the drivers direct view, they dip the lights before coming over the hill and blinding me.
