Out for club ride yesterday and notices a buckle in my front wheel. On closer examination I noticed that two of my spokes and separate from the hub as the flange had sheared. Anyone else have this kind of problem. The hubs are less than six months old so I will take the wheel back to the LBS. Just curious if anyone else seen this type of problem.

PS The spots are mud not rust as it was a Royce Titanium Hub.

Like a lot of small manufacturers, Royce hub shells are machined rather than forged. Forging produces a stronger shell, especially at the flanges. Nevertheless it shouldn't fail, particularly built three-cross, so I'd take it back.

Royce... argh.

My LBS won't build radial spoke patterns because if the hubs aren't designed for it, the above can happen. This should not happen with 3x pattern of spoking, especially Royce. Don't think you'll have any issues with replacements.

Good news, thank you. The guys at LBS are of the same view and have offered me a loan wheel until the wheel is rebuilt.
