The front end of my bike clicks sporadically. Sometimes, it will not click. Sometimes, it starts to click repeatedly while under front braking, at what sounds like every rotation of the wheel. I also get it when I'm out of the saddle at the end of each stroke.
On smooth roads, I cannot get it to click at all.
It's definitely the front; I've felt it through my bars.
I have a pair of Crud RoadRacer MKIIs fitted, but nothing is stuck under there.
The click cannot be reproduced while not riding. I've tried putting my whole body weight on the handlebars, spinning the front wheel, pretending to ride out of the saddle while not actually moving, and nothing can make it click.
Any ideas?
I have a suspicion that small stones get kicked up, and occasionally stick to the tyre - there is no pattern at all in the clicking except when it happens while braking. But I don't know if that's a realistic hypothesis.
