Hello All
New to this forum.
long-time cyclist
With Aer Lingus airfare rates being so cheap, planning a visit to Dublin next year.

Wanted some ideas about a 2-3 day cycling trip (out & back) from Dublin to (?) with suggestions about where to stay in outlying towns.

Any ideas would be welcome

Down the coast to Wexford and back should be doable in that timescale.
Never done it myself, despite planning it for years

The airport is north of the City. Train to Cork and cycle to/from airport will use up 1-2 days of your trip. Wexford and Wicklow Hills are lovely but you have to cross the city. Tara and the Boyne valley would be an interesting 2/3 day trip and on the 'doorstep' of the Airport. Have a look here Ireland's Ancient East Coast for some more idea. East Coast of Ireland is more gentle than the rugged West Coast.

You could ride up the coast via Drogheda, Blackrock, Dundalk, Carlingford then get the boat to Greenore, up to the Mournes, stay a night, ride to Belfast and either ride back to Dublin in a long day or jump on the train which when booked on line is cheap and regular.
