Freewheel or casette

Would anyone know if a giant ocr4 has a freewheel or casette? Thanks

I would have thought it was a cassette if it has more than 7 gears then definitely

7 speed could be either, you need to have a good look at it and work out whats been fitted, unless you can find the tecnical documents for the bike.

A visual general rule of thumb is...
Cassette...fitted to freehub. A wheel fitted with a freehub will usually have a bulge on the drive side of the hub itself, looking between the spokes.
Freewheel, the hub is usually parallel between the spokes, no bulge.

yes but they are very rare - I think Sunrace are now the only people making 8-speed freewheels in the whole world, and I bet they don't sell many!

SJS also list a freewheel from Ventura, all I was trying to point out is there could be a chance if it was 8sp it might be a freewheel.

Doubt it would be original equipment on a Giant however a good point made I learned something today!

My Chimera had an 8 speed freewheel but that was when 8 or 9 speed was generally the standard, 10 speed may have just been coming in....I had no problem replacing mine, at that time. I found mine very durable, I think I replaced it at circa 6000miles.

I know its not relevent to OPs bike but like Nigel, just adding a little.
