frame truing

I have a cheap steel frame bike which i use quite a bit, nip to shop sort of stuff, if it gets nicked wont loose too much sleep kinda thing.
anyway i hit a pot hole with it and can no longer ride hands free as it pulls to the side. i want to check and true the frame (just for experience) I have done this before (years ago) but it was sort of trial and error.
i cant find anything on the subject and wondered if there is a way of making up a decent jig to assist the project.

btw. came off when i hit the pothole and fell heavily, just in case you wondered, so all my weight was on the bike to bend it.

Obviously it depends on what exactly is bent, but the late great Seldon offered some good suggestions regarding how to establish frame and fork alignment here.
