Hi, complete noob here

I'm looking for a Hybrid type bike, just to get from A to B mainly.
I've got my eye on this one.

I'm 5'6"+ tall and I'm told my ideal frame size would be 18" but the bike only seems to be listed as 17" or 19".

So should which size should I go for or is it even the right choice of bike?

Your inside leg measurement is also very important?

Also, tell everyone when and where you'll be riding the bike and would you also like to carry stuff on it?

It's worth spending a bit more money in your local bike shop, because that wau you'll get to try the bike out first.
Your bike will also need a service to check everything is right after a few weeks, a decent bike shop will do this for free.
But that sort of machine will be fine for general transport.

I have a similar inside leg to you, and I have both 17 and 19 inch framed hybrids. You'll need a visit a shop to try them out to be sure

Just been to my local bike shop. They don't stock GIANT, mainly Ridgeback and nothing in my price range stocked but was told I'd probably need a 19".

A 19" inch giant mtb tends to fit me (in fact, the reach is still rather long), and I'm 6 foot. If this can be applied to their hybrids, then you would need a 17 I suspect, but unfortunately trying one is the only way to find out..

Have you looked at the subway 1 from Halfords? Apart from the problem having to buy it from there, it will certainly get you from A-B, got a good spec for the money and is slightly cheaper than the Giant too...

Thanks for the advice.
I've found the GIANT for £225 online. I've emailed the store asking for advice on which size.

Regarding this bike, I've found the 2008 model £10 cheaper than the 2009, but can't see any differences in the spec.

Would the 2009 be better n improved?

For the GIANT bike it's been confirmed that I'd need the 17".
Just need to decide on which bike now

17" hybrid frame with an inside leg of 30" sounds on the small side to me...
I have an measly inside leg of 29" and ride a 55 hybrid. Thats about 21" I believe.

I've a Giant bike - Escape M0 and I'm 5'6 with a 31.5 inside leg. I've got the M - 19", whereas my previous bike had been a 17" Dawes, I think you could really do with sitting on it, but if you can't then the 19 assuming similar to mine.
