Hello

Just after suggestions for protecting my frame where the cables rub.
I've seen clear plastic stickers on ebay and wondered if anyone had tried them or if any of you have a better idea.

Cheers

I use the lizard skins leather patches under my cables and have no complaints. I decided on these after having clear plastic patches for where my race blades are mounted. The patches I have blistered where the mounts rubbed leaving white markes on a black frame. They may just have been cheep stickers but it put me off!

If you have a Sign making company near you peza, they use a clear vinyl self adhesive sheet...i just asked if they had any offcuts. They happily obliged with about 1mtr square for a couple of quid :welcome:

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
The patch kits (Google frame protection) you can get are OK - faux Carbon even, for a bit of bling - but the really serious stuff to use is Helicopter Tape.

I recently got the clear ones u mention off ebay, they seem ok but do blister like mentioned above. The pack came with loads of patches though so ill just change them every couple of months. They are clear as well so you can't see them.

Wilkinsons sell clear Fablon. 'Sticky backed plastic' of Blue Peter fame.

I found the propper, clear patches very good (no sign of blistering or anything in over 6 months now )

The helicpter tape leaves a horrible gluey mess around the edges and is a bugger to replace.

Clear fablon type stuff is, in my opinion, way too thin to offer prolonged protection - I certainly wouldn't trust it to do a propper job on a carbon frame!

Hi,
I bought a clear film from Halfords, it is normally used for protecting headlamps from stone chips. I have mine for 6months now. You can buy a roll for £5 but I found mine on a sale for £1. It is good for 2 bikes and easy to apply.

Finally a real useful cycle accessory from Halfrauds... ;)
