I'm just wondering what YOU prefer? A frame pump or a mini pump for my roadie, I'm curious as to a few things, comfort, efficiency, cost ect...

Thanks

depends on the ride distance. for a short commute, a mini pump is fine, as you can easily get home with 40psi in the tyre. for long distances, i always pack a frame pump. i don't want to be riding 50 miles on a soft tyre.

the additional weight of a frame pump is pretty negligible imho.

Cant some mini pumps get tyres up to 100 + psi?

supposedly. i find some work better than others, and depends on the tyres. my crank brothers mini pump just won't get my tub tyres up to any great pressure, but is fine with vittoria clinchers, whereas an old mini pump works fine with both, but not as good as the crank brothers' one with the clinchers. as none of my bikes are super lightweight, and i have the frame pump (which works well with everything), i prefer to use that.

if you're starting from a position of having neither, take your bike and try them out. or, alternatively, start a "which pump for such and such tyres" thread.

Glad you made ths post, I just done a bit of research on it as I'm looking for one for my mountain bike.

As Alec says for longer journeys go for the full size.

Thinking about the frustration when needing a pump, I'd say go for the full size.

Most of my rides I use a racksack so the size doesn't really matter.

Topeak Road Morph here. It's a mini-pump but with the hose and fold out foot stand it's more like a mini track pump. Being small it's more practical than a frame pump, assuming you don't have pump pegs on your frame.

Sounds great!
