Hey,
i have been getting on well with my giant and but for the fact i need to get some new seat adjusters and possibly a new seat post all is well and i have broken 17 mph average which was one of my big aims. And that over 27.5 miles which is a long ride for me.

So just a quick question, with bikes such as the specialized allez or tarmac the post is like curved, why is this when expensive bikes from other manufacturers do not seem to have this?

Also, where can i get a cheap seatpost ?? the cheaper the better though i may sacrifice some more money to get a better quality one.
Cheers,
Mike

I think you're on about "setback" on the seatpost, it curves backwards near the clamp at the top?

This is to allow the seat to put further back in relation to the geometry of the bike.

No idea whether you need it or not. Off the top of my head, most of my bikes have it but I'm normally at the upper end of the suitable size for the frames I buy and hence need to create a bit of room to stretch out a bit.

Unless I'm talking rubbish.

Edit: I am talking rubbish I think, you're on about the curved top tube or cross bar aren't you?

No idea then sorry, looks good on my Sirrus but as to why???

I presume you mean seat post. Why is it curved? Fashion? Let's face it, most of what appears on bike is down to fashion. Just look at a road bike of say twenty years ago, then compare it to a modern day road bike. There's very little difference other than fashion.

yes i did mean the cross tube or top bar, so any ideas?

Been thinking about the cross tube thing and it might be to help damp vibration but that is sheer guess work on my part.
