Frame-bags

Has anyone had any experience making a frame bag themselves? Seems to be quite common in the US, though not quite sure where to get materials from in the UK

People who have mentioned this in the past are, I think, @dellzeqq and @steveindenmark

Edit ... Or maybe not. I may have not read properly. What they've mentioned are bike bags. I'm not so sure what a frame bag actually is.

Try and find a yacht club near where you are and see if you can beg an old sail. They will make good frame bags but you will need to Line it with poly bags or something similar to make it waterproof.

Yeah I like the alpkit stuff usually but the frame bag I'm not as keen on - I've seen one with a roll top design which looks better, more durable that zips.

Never thought of that, sounds like a brilliant idea though. I'll definitely have a look

Better idea. A large dry bag off ebay.

You will need to take it apart and sew it but at least it will be waterproof.

I have an old army kit bag, so now that you've mentioned dry bags I may just use that and line it to be extra safe.

Yeah I saw that but it only comes in one colour, petty perhaps but it put me off
