Hi all,
Unfortunately I have managed to fracture my foot ( four metatarsals fractures on right foot) I can't pin down actually having an accident but the foot has steadily become more and more painful so I went to a minor injury unit yesterday. I have been fitted with a funny looking boot that makes me look like I am trying to dress up as a spaceman and have been given a course of painkillers. Last June I broke my tib/fib and then my collar bone early December all these injuries have healed well and I have been sensible about coming back to fitness slowly and safely ( hence the introduction of a road bike ( none impact)) It has been sugested that I have some kind of medical investigation into my bone density however I am reluctant to have anything like this confirmed as I am hoping to join the army in September.
I have a couple of questions
Has anyone else had a similar fracture in ther foot?
How long did it take for you to recover?
Are there any military types in the know about wheather or not I will pass my main board with all these fractures on my record?
Can I take my boot off and do some swimming fitness?

In the meantime I am going to hang out with my dogs watching Enews and become more miserable about my rubbish skeletal system!

Bad luck with the foot. Mrs UD broke three of hers last May coming down the stairs when she thought there was another one to go. It was six weeks until she had the boot off. The fracture clinic told her that she didn't need it x raying and just let her get on with it. She still has pain now especially if she treads on uneven ground. I would strongly advise that you insist on an x ray to confirm it's healed. She will probably need a plate in it in the future. I think the earlier you can get on it the better.
Can't see it being a problem for the army as long as you make sure it's properly fixed.
Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

Had the x ray yesterday, showed four lovely little fractures. I will insist on one when I get the boot off to make sure it has healed correctly. Rubbish that Mrs UD is still experiencing pain, I hope she can get it sorted soon.
