I'd like to see a close up of the Ribble Dibble. Is it a 653 ? they were a cracking frame. i've got the flo pink version . i peeled the decals off mine because they were awful. No laquer coat on those frames.
I was amazed recently when i weighed the forks 728gms !:bicycle:. They were heavier than all of the 531 forks I have ,even heavier than a standard 501 fork which weighs 652gms ! very odd.
heres mine soon to be re-finished. Should I stick to the flo pink ?

they are cateye Vectras:biggrin: I thought i recognised it. i still use one on my massi . Pretty much bomb proof and mine has now lasted nearly 20 years . The same battery has been in it for the past 12 years  I like the manual start/stop feature except when I forget to start/stop the blasted thing.

New wheels are tasty.I'm not sure I could ride with downtube shifters anymore . Flippin dangerous in my experience.
How on earth have you kept your Ribble finish so good? my rear stays are peppered with chain chips :bicycle:

I've decided to rebuild mine as it is warts an all and use it for TT I've never done one before and fancy do it on my first real love affair frame:thumbsup:

Chain chips - used a chain guard made out of...a double layer of electrical tape..works wonders.....

Yeh, the original Cateye Vectra - bit clunky, but very reliable. They only stop reading in torrential rain - you just need to clear the water from the contact point on the mount, and off you go.

Don't have any issues with the shifters, and I've kept the bikes original as far as I can. They are SIS, so a quick dab and you've changed - the DA ones are so spot on and precise anyway. The only dis-advantage is that you need to think about the gear you are going to need on a steep hill, but that's the only down side.

photoshopped. no bikes are that clean.

How are you finding the charge knife saddle Fossy? I really like mine....but I think I sit a little too far forward on it, the stitching chafes a bit and I can also end up with numbnuts if I keep sliding forward on the saddle. I hope I can just fiddle with its position as it is a reeeeally comfy saddle in all other aspects.

The Knife is really comfy - no issues with the stitching as I use cycling shorts anyway. Very good saddle indeed. Make sure the saddle is level (front to back) as it does dip a little in the middle.

It's not like I cycle round wearing nothing below my waistline  ..... I'll give the knife another adjustment. Cheers

I also had a flo pink Ribble 653 back in 1990. Grew out of it in a year back then which didn't go down well with the parents who had funded the purchase!
