Hello everyone. Having enjoyed riding my old race bike since a Mercedes broke my other bike, lengthening nights and mud on the roads are pointers that I may not enjoy riding it much longer! No clearances or mounting eyes mean no guards and anyway, 853 tubes don't like wet or road salt.

This means I need to resurrect the other bike which means new forks. I have had a devil of a job finding steel forks with 200mm ish of threaded steerer in 1" size. I don't want to use deep drop brakes which further restricts my choices.

I thought I had found ideal forks, these:

However, I spotted the fork rake figure. 30mm seems a bit small to me. These are going to be twitchier than an on edge squirrel on speed aren't they?

What rake would my old forks have? They were on a typical 531 bike. I don't remember any issue with toe over lap. I can't measure the old ones as they are somewhat shorter than they used to be!

I use this bike at night so would prefer neutral handling. Or, am I overthinking this whole thing and worrying about something only a pro would notice? Thanks.

I think that you're correct in saying that 30mm of rake would be twitchy. A neutral rake for a 73 degree frame would be about 45mm. My own Record Ace, which is a 73 degree training machine has a rake of about 2 inches.
