Hope you can help with this query.
When I assembled my new Felt roadster last month, I had to set up the stem, spacers, top cap and handlebars myself. Having never done this, I phoned the seller who talked me through it. It seems to have gone ok.
The thing I noticed at the time was when the steerer was in the headtube, and before I had put on the top cap and stem and done the tightening etc that the seller talked me through, the steerer/fork was basically, loose inside the headtube. In other words it was possible to wobble in within the tube to about 1-2mm. I was assured this was perfectly normal and it is nice and tight now and doesn't wobble. But is it normal? The guy said "all bikes are like that" but whenever I've adjusted that part of my mtb, I don't ever remember the steerer becoming wobblable during the process.
If it is normal then fine. If not, then it may be a defect and I don't know what I'll do.
Thanks
Stu
