Did 65 miles over the weekend, played football on Tuesday........ My god it was hard.... My thighs are killing. Maybe I'm getting to old for both.

For me it was a weekend combo of
Friday- circuits
Saturday -30 miles
Sunday-- Badminton singles and 30 miles

Some people might say that is overdoing it, but it makes me feel good.
I've just about recovered today.
Tonights entertainment is either shovelling and barrowing 2 tonnes of soil, or metcon (which is like circuits but tougher)

It'll hit me on Thursday!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I used to multiple sports and teach aerobics 20 odd years ago, now cycling is enough as i find i do not have the time to do it or the time to recover from it all.

I am seriously considering stopping playing football on Monday nights as it affects my cycling performance. I will quite often ride an open 10 on a Wednesday and I feel far better in these if I have not played football on the Monday. At 43 the joints don't cope as well with the twisting turning and jarring that an hours football on astro turf causes. You certainly don't recover as quickly.

Go on, tilt your head!
My legs are always tired on a ride if I've played football a day or two before. When i cycled home from football last week I got an evil cramp in my calf muscle that almost sent me off the bike.

I made a recent footballing comeback after not playing for nearly 15 years, 2 games and I have retired again already :B)

ive been tempted with the 5 aside comeback but reality is, I can guarantee that I would get injured and be off the bike for ages.......

but, I do still look at the boots every time I am in a sports shop - is £70 too much to indulge?

If your making a come back get cheap black boots , expensive fancy coloured boots get you clattered straight away .

I thought that was the point of football . Wear silly shoes and when someone touches you and says nice shoes lovey , see you in the showers . You fall over and get to roll around on the floor pretending youre hurt . When everyone ignores you just get up and have a pretend limp for 5 seconds and then chase the ball again .
Ive seen dogs do the same thing but when they fall over and roll around you have to rub their belly and say whos a good boy then .

Maybe they don't mix, but now that I've given up footy, I've found that my football astroturf trainers make brilliant cycling shoes......perfect grippy soles, and they take a neoprene overshoe well too.

If it makes you feel any better, the dog chased a rabbit today and I tried to run after her and it was just hideous. I used to run marathons and do triathlons so running was easy peasy. Now I don't run but do a lot of cycling and the running today, was aweful, my legs felt tight, there was no speed and it started to hurt after a couple of hundred yards. I did catch the dog though.

Had the dog been playing football, then?
