Hi Guys,

I have a planned sky ride on Sunday which is give or take 12 miles, but i am going to cycle there and back, which will take my total miles for the day upto the 40 mile mark.

I am planning to go at a reasonable pace till i get to the start point, and no doubt with it being sky ride it will be slower than what i am used to, and also includes a stop off half way through the 12 miles at a cafe.

Do i need to bother taking anything with me food wise as i reckon if I get something at the cafe that should the trick. I will also be bringing two bottles of water.

Longest ride I have done is 32 miles without stopping and didn't take anything. I think you should be fine, especially if the Sky Ride does have a stop but it wouldn't do any harm to stick a cereal bar or maybe a handful of jelly beans or something in your pocket. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks bud. My other half bought some healthy cereal bars a few days ago. I will grab a couple of them

No harm in taking a few bars of something from out the cupboard just in case you need the energy boost, can always put them back when you get home if you dont use them

I rarely eat when I'm out on a solo ride up to 50 miles, though after my recent jaunt over Exmoor, I'll be taking grub with me for anything that involves chevrons pointing in the wrong direction.

Wouldn't bother with energy food for that sort of distance- although you may want something just to enjoy- sweeties (no wrappers) or something
