Hi everyone. Just got a Focus Mares AX cantilever frameset For almost nothing and thought i will make it into My everyday/ allotment/shop/school run bike
Building it as we speak and i have a little issue with internal cable routing.
On the frame there several internal bits where cables do go. (Excuse me if i do not explain it well)
Top tube left side: in and out to back cantilever brake

Down tube left side : in and then all the way to the inside Of the bottom bracket?
how do i get the cable out to front or rear derailleur?
surely the cable will get stuck as the bottom bracket shell is in the way....
how do i operate front and rear derailleur with only one internal entry.
I might sound stupid.. maybe I am. I am stuck here. Was going to build a cheap bike to do every day stuff and i am spending a lot of time thinking and wondering where all this cables are going HELP Please

You could message them and ask for pics of their routing ?

Difficult to help without having the bike in front of you.
Having looked a pics of an AX I can see the cabling for the rear derailleur has the outer running the entire length outside on the bottom of the RH chainstay so it must exit somewhere in the BB area. Same must be true for the FD.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I re-cabled a Focus Cayo last year, so it's probably similar. I bought an internal cabling kit - reasonably cheap - which uses magnets to get a guide cable through - to which you can attach an inner cable. I found it easiest to feed the guide in from the far end and then attach the inner and pull it through. It can be a bit fiddly while you figure out the best approach. If you can use full-length outers, then I would do so, or you may have to buy some cable stops to fit in the frame where the cables enter and leave, which gives you a problem to work out the outer cable lengths you need.

Your down-tube should have an exit at the bottom bracket for the rear and front mech cables. Once you've got a cable through, never remove it without attaching and pulling through a guide that you can use to get the new cable back in - thread or very light string will do for this purpose.

I've got a 2021 Mares but it is set up for discs & the routing doesn't look the same. I've posted it hear in front of things a few times if you want to look at it
