I have almost convinced myself to buy a Kayo 105 so I am interested in any thoughts/observations from current owners. This will be my first road bike after riding a hybrid on and off for a good few years.

I am a little short of 5.8" with a 29"leg so I think I need a medium but I am hopoing there will be someone on here with similar stats.

I reckon you'd be about right with a medium. I have a Large and im 5'10 anna bit with a 30 inch leg.

Great bikes by the way. I absolutely love mine

Hi there how do you find the riding position ? The only thing that is really putting me off is talk of being aggressive. I have been researching loads of bikes and at £899 I can't see anything better unless I am missing something obvious.

Aggressive is too strong a word in my opinion. Traditional racing geometry, and short head tube, so not your upright postion sportive bike, but not too extreme either. I'm not particularly flexible and I get on with it ok, just starting to get a bit of neck ache after 70 miles or so, and I reckon that will get better with a bit of getting used to it.

Only you can judge if a trad type bike is for you though. Any chance you know someone with a similar type bike you could try?

I have a Focus Cayo 105 and it is unbeatable for the price BUT as said by others it does have racing geometry which means a fairly head down position compared to the new breed of 'sportive' bikes that give a more head up position.

If you think that this will be unsuitable then DON'T buy it even if it is great value because you simply wont enjoy riding it!

Recently purchased my Cayo 105 and very happy indeed with it. First ride was a 70 mile audax and no probs at all and comfortable. I am 5ft 11 and 33 inside leg and I purchased the large; this does not seem to have resulted in a very aggresive riding position. It says on the website that for a less agressive position go for a slightly larger frame.

I also have the cayo 105.

Bought it after only a few months with a hybrid.

Didn't get on with it to start, but that was due to seat not being exactly in right position, so was getting leg pain. At first I thought it was down to the riding position.
I know enjoy every ride on the road bike, and the hybrid is now something used to collect cobwebs.

Thanks for the replies, I have nothing really to compare it to unless you count my 8 year old hybrid/mountain bike.

I love my Cayo, like yourself I had an MTB but mine was a £80 BSO jobbie. You will fly when you ride one. Im 5'5" with 29" inside leg and I bought size XS I beleive the seattube is 50cm but you have to watch out for the top tube length. How about getting one from Wiggle and return it if you don't get on with it.

well, Wiggle are the only UK importers so he'll have to buy it from wiggle. And yes, they do a 1 month trial so you have nothing to lose as long as you follow the rules of the trial period.

My current bike was £120 8 years ago, an Arrow Cross. I vaugely remember the LBS saying the company was going bust so it was on sale. It is heavy but has done me well over the years.

Yep wiggle is my only option regarding the 105 and the one I am most drawn to so far.
