As a cyclist i never really thought about the effect a flashing front light has on motorists . On the way to work this morning i had to take the car as my bike requires a new front wheel from a pothole i hit the day before.Whilst driving to work a cyclist caught my attention from about 300yds his light flashing i have to agree its bloody annoying and should be banned in my opinion .As he got within 20 mtrs of me my vision was significantly impaired enough to curse the cyclist something to which i have never done before.Does anyone else share my feelings or am i just going a bit over the top:sun:

Depends on the brightness of the flashing light in my opinion.

I'd never use my T6 light on its flashing mode, as it's far too bright - But I'd be fine with using my cheapo Cateye be-seen light on flashing mode as it's so dim.

What's the difference between a flashing T6 in someones face and a steady T6 in someones face?

Just to clear this up, I never have the light aimed at anyone's face. It's pointed strictly at the ground, often with the top half covered to shield oncoming vehicles.

And the difference is that flashing lights are far more annoying (at least in my opinion). Imagine if all car lights flashed instead of remained steady. Not only would no one be able to see where they were going, your eyes would never be able to adjust for a set light level (and the roads would be like some sort of rave?).

By aiming it in someone's face, I didn't mean it literally.

Just a question about the Cree T6, I'm going to be getting some new lights for the winter and I was thinking about getting 2 T6's. They seem good for for £10 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UltraFire...A%2BFICS%2BUFI&otn=21&pmod=250900712476&ps=54), are they that good?

For £10 you will only get the torch body and LED, no batteries/charger/mount. Also, you won't need two. I recommend the Keygos KE1. Here's my review.

At risk of taking this thread off-topic, you might want to start a new thread or respond to my review one!

Photosensitive epilepsy?
not ment to be a trolling comment but something to think about..

Even more so when you consider that one of the flashing modes on my T6 torch is a strobe light!

That's a bright light! I will now move over to that thread as I'm getting slightly off topic.

Can anyone really see the point of the strobe on the T6 lights?. I never use this function, its awful.

Roadside whilst fixing a puncture kind of like hazard lights,

I must admit i find flashing lights a complete waste of time

I stopped using flashing front lights after reading German government research results. Still use flashing rear though in conjunction with a steady one and during daylight though.

I haven't noticed any difference in the response of drivers. It's just important to have good bright lights.

In a small number of cases drivers just don't see me, no difference whether the lights are flashing or not - I just try to spot them and get out of the way!
