Arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

What have I done? Why did I enter? Will I be the only entrant on a hybrid?

How has it come so quickly, why didn't I train more? Why is it like revising for school exams? (as in coulda shoulda woulda)

Your distinguished answers on a twix wrapper please......

Don't worry about the hybrid was at a crit race a couple of weeks ago and there was a lad racing on one and he did well.

Get out there and enjoy it! If anything you might find it more fun overtaking the "all the gear but no idea" brand new carbon road bike wannabes on your hybrid than struggling to keep up with the leaders on a road bike.

Set yourself an easy pace and don't push too hard up the hills and you'll do fine.

It's not a race, just enjoy.

I've seen hybrids on Sportives before, one bloke did one on a Chopper.

I've ridden in plenty of sportives, the last 4 on a Spesh Sirrus, i've seen Hybrids, MTB's, numerous BSO's that I was psotive wouldn't make it half way round - At the end of the day it's about you riding your bike having fun & achieving something - If others want to ride carbon whatnots, race round like loons & dress like they TDF'ers, then that's their choice - You will be fine, just have fun xx

I am doing one on June 12, and will be on a road bike, but fully anticipate a constant stream of MTB and hybrids coming past, especially on the hills. Don't worry, it's your event, your ride, just get out there and enjoy the experience. Chances are you will link up with someone or a group at your own pace and that will be a great help.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Saw a couple of people on hybrids at the midland monster sportive, they got around the course , not in the fastest time but they got there and from the photos looks like they had fun !

I saw a guy do the 50 mile palace 2 palace on a unicycle and another on what must have been his 5 year old daughters bike. You'll be fine.

It's not the brookmans park ride it by any chance? I'm hoping to be there

Hi Jan, no it's in Leeds.

I've just done what's probably going to be my last 50+ miler until the event itself - I have lots on at work in the next few days, and won't have time for more than 3 x 20 miles this week.

I know it's not a race, as long as I finish, and as long as I'm not last, with the sweep vehicle nagging behind me, I don't care.

I've lost 2 dress sizes since Christmas, but had to change brands of jeans as I can't get my (now like rock) thighs into my old ones. Yayyyy!
