I am thinking of fitting a new chainset (with rapidfire shifters) to an old MTB frame that I am renovating. I have done a trial run fitting the Hollowtech II bottom bracket (68mm/British Thread) to the frame. The bottom bracket fitted fine so I am about to order the crankset, cassette, chain etc. My question is do I need to fit any spacers on the crank?

A quick update - the chainset worked well on the MTB. One issue with the Front Derailleur - the MTB frame is set up for a 'top pull' FD. I bought a SHIMANO Deore XT front derailleur - Top Swing - FD-T780-3 Good product - allowed me to install a Tiagra chainset on my old M-Trax MTB in top pull mode. Need to a little tidying up of the cables, finish installing a new set of brakes (SHIMANO Cantilever brake BR-CX70) but I am very pleased with the end results.
