Hi all,

I'm looking at getting some new brakes for my 2012 Whyte 801. I think it's fair to say the Tektro Draco set it came with are yet to be desired. I've had some great responses on here regarding the new brakes size and brand, but I've got one burning question.......

My rotors are currently 160mm on both the front and back. If I was to install new levers and calipers would they fit straight into the screw holes already in the frame? I know if I wanted bigger discs (apparently they wouldn't fit my bike anyway) I'd need to get the right mount for them, but I'm unsure what to do if I'm keeping the same rotors on. I'm sure most will respond with "depends on the manufactuer of the brakes", but I'm asking the question in the off chance it's a common question asked.

Disc brake calipers come in two mount types, Post Mount or IS Mount.
The two are not interchangeable - but adaptors are readily available. If you have a post mount now and replace it with another post mount it will fit. Same if you have IS.

How would I know the difference?

Post mount screws tend to run in the same direction as the disc. Screws going into the caliper sideways are IS mount
